Baby Boggs March 2021

We are over the moon for baby Boggs to be joining our family in March of 2021!

Even in such an uncertain time in the world with so many unknowns, we are so grateful for this gift and cannot wait for this little one to join us.

We’ve been married for 7 years and the one questions we have been bombarded with in the last 5 years is “so when are y’all going to have kids?”

I’ve always found this such an intensely personal question but being a no-nonsense, matter-of-fact kind of girl, I just answered straightforwardly and honestly; “I really don’t know.”

Truth is, we didn’t know.

We always wanted kids, that was never a question.

But we wanted a million other things too.

We wanted to travel the world, live abroad, start business, build careers, discover and grow into who we were and who we were becoming and be ‘just us’ for awhile.

Yet, after awhile those reasons aren’t good enough to the onlookers of your life.

Your friends and parents start to get a little impatient. Others who mean well warn that “your biological time clock is ticking” and “sometimes it’s not that easy.”

The scariest and most comforting truth of it all is that we have no control anyway.

That’s the beauty and struggle with the sovereignty of God.

You can be doing “all the right things” every month and test is still negative or the pregnancy ends with a miscarriage.

You can look ahead and make plans but a pandemic pregnancy may be in your cards and what you once imagined being the most exciting time of your life is now riddled with fear and uncertainty.

So we can either embrace the free fall of all that is unknown or we can fight it and anxiously grasp for control.

Believe me, I can wrestle God for control with the best of them.

But with this whole when-are-you-having-kids, your-biological-time-clock-is-ticking, trying-to-get-pregnant ordeal, it’s freeing to just rest in unknown and uncertainty.

Resting and trusting in the sovereignty of a God who knew me before I was formed just as He knows this little baby He’s knitting together.
