When we first got Lady I swore I wouldn’t ever feed her people food, said she’d never be allowed on the bed, and that she would primarily be an outside dog. And now I’m the pushover. She’s my shadow on the days I work from home, I let her snuggle up next to me until @justinboggs comes to bed at night & buy her a corn dog and ice cream cone from sonic on her birthday (and maybe give her a lot of scraps). Justin and I joke about it, he tells me not to feed her people food and to make her go outside more and I tell him that dogs live such short lives and the should be filled with all the comforts and loves we can possibly give them But the truth is, as silly as it seems, she’s taught me a lot that I’m grateful for. She’s taught me to slow down and be present in the moment. She’s never worried about tomorrow, just focused on today and being with her humans, She’s taught me that you can make plans, say what you will and won’t do, but life is not black and white and there is room to change, to see things differently, the feel differently and to not be so regimented. She’s taught me to find joy just in being alive today. She wakes up each morning, ready to take on the day, excited and full of life and energy and that’s how I want to live too.
Dear Body, Summertime is right around the corner and this year and soon enough swimsuit season will be upon us We’ve shared several summers together already but this one will be different. I’m committing to only saying kind things because it’s a brave and beautiful act when any women slips into a swimsuit. Your unique brand of beauty and bravery is something to be applauded There may be negative comments & unknown thoughts, but they won't be from me this time Get out there and rock that high waisted army green bikini by the pool or that coral pink one piece you wakeboard in all weekend long at the lake I got your back this year & I’ll be cheering for you. I’ve never been good with goodbyes so I usually just write letters instead Folding his clean scrubs last night & stacking them in a pile, it sank it that his time as as ER nurse has come to an end It’s bittersweet But mostly sweet as I reminisce on all that I’ve learned & gained from working alongside @justinboggs #ontheblog today a farewell letter to one remarkable ER nurse
